Jackson residents and community leaders welcomed Jackson Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Cedrick Gray during a reception at the Mississippi e-Center. The event, held August 2, 2012, was sponsored by friends of Jackson Public Schools, the Mississippi e-Center at Jackson State University, and Jackson State University.
Dr. Gray outlined his plans for "Building Stronger Schools Together," his call for the community to rally together to build a better future for Jackson's children. Some of the plan's goals highlighted during Dr. Gray's presentation include:
- Focusing on academic achievement and growth
- Establishing a positive climate throughout the learning community
- Increasing organizational effectiveness and operational accountability to ensure consistent support to schools
- Establishing a positive district culture centered on student achievement, development, and growth
