The JPS Partners in Education Store will be well-stocked when it opens to teachers during the 2012-2013 school year. Two campaigns have collected and delivered classroom and office supplies to the store in recent weeks.

Mayor Harvey Johnson delivered school supplies to the store which were left over from the City's annual Back-to-School Celebration and Supply Giveaway. The items included 325 packs of crayons, 3,335 pencils, 2,352 color pencils, 534 spiral notebooks, 80 packs of notebook paper, 224 classic markers, and 1,120 washable markers. The City of Jackson, 99 Jams, Kixie 107, Antonelli College, and Sonic Drive-Thru partnered to host the back-to-school celebration. More than 4,000 book bags filled with supplies were given away during the event held August 4, 2012. Funding for the event and school supplies were provided by donors throughout the community.

Stuff the Bus, a school supply drive sponsored by the United Way, Raising Cane's, Office Depot and WLBT, also shared items for the Partners in Education Store. "The goal of Stuff the Bus was to make sure all students start school with the confidence to succeed," according to their press release.

Since 2009, the Partners in Education Store had no location to operate and is re-opening its doors this year. These donations will help make the store's opening a success.
