More than 40 General Education Diploma graduates were recognized during a ceremony at Murrah High School, May 31, 2012. JPS Board member Dr. Ivory Phillips, delivered Words of Encouragement to the graduates. Certificates were presented by Dr. Phillips, Adult Education director Isaac Norwood, and Adult Education instructor Lucille Jordan.
Completion of the program indicates these students have met the Mississippi standard for the GED (General Education Diploma) through the JPS GED testing center. GED tests are internationally recognized and are designed to measure major academic skills and knowledge in core content areas that are learned during four years of high school. When an adult passes theGED test battery, the resulting GED diploma certifies that he or she has attained subject matter knowledge and skills associated with high school completion.
