At the Parents for Public Schools Lunch Bunch held May 2, 2012, Dr. Jayne B. Sargent, interim superintendent of Jackson Public Schools, addressed the attendees about the district's recently approved rezoning plans. During her presentation, Dr. Sargent stated that the district has not undertaken a rezoning process since the late 1980's and that the city's population has changed significantly since that time. She also spoke candidly about the district's financial situation which also has driven the need for solutions. Dr. Sargent, with support from communications consultant Eric Stringfellow, responded to questions raised by the audience.
Dr. Sargent's introduction and the question and answer portion of the meeting will be broadcast throughout the day on ITV/Comcast channels 18 and 19. A version of the video can also be viewed below. Her address has been transcribed by Parents for Public Schools of Jackson and is available on its website.
