Provine band students Matthew Bennett (left) and Tyler Battle (right) participated in the All South Honor Band Clinic held in February at the University of Southern Mississippi In Hattiesburg, Mississippi. These two Provine students were selected for the honor band from more than 700 applicants after a rigorous audition process. The clinic consisted of some of the South's finest student musicians from Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. Provine was the only JPS school represented at the clinic.
"Congratulations to these two outstanding musicians and their parents, as well as Provine band director Carlton D. Williams," said Laketia Marshall-Thomas, principal of Provine High School. "I am very proud of the outstanding job that Mr. Williams and his students are doing to represent our school."
