Give to DonorsChoose

DonorsChoose.org is an easy way to support a JPS classroom. Consider donating to one of the projects submitted by JPS teachers!

The effectiveness of a school is directly tied to the level of interest, support, and involvement of the community. Jackson leaders and citizens actively contribute their time and resources to the improvement of Jackson's public schools. Over 1,500 men and women from organizations of all kinds throughout the metro Jackson community invest approximately 19,000 hours of service in the district's 59 schools annually. Many of the volunteers come from businesses while others come to serve in Jackson Public Schools through civic groups, churches, government and military organizations, and higher education institutions.

For more information on how you and your organization can become involved in Jackson's public schools, contact the Partners in Education Office at 601-960-8905.

Book Buddies

Jackson Public Schools is inviting residents in the greater Jackson area to help plant the love of reading in a child's heart by volunteering to be a Book Buddy. Individuals interested in becoming a Book Buddy should contact the Partners in Education Office at 960-8905.

Book Buddies volunteer 30-45 minutes a week reading with a child. "You don't need any special skills to be a Book Buddy — just a love of books and a love of children," said Rebecca Starling, coordinator of the Partners in Education Program.
