Leadership Institute ActivityJUSP Programs — Summer Leadership Institute

Teacher leaders, mathematics coaches, and science coaches received leadership training during a one-week Teacher Leadership Institute at  Eagle Ridge Conference Center, hosted by Mississippi College. The principals attended a one-day session focusing on the effective use of coaches and teacher leaders. The Teacher Leadership Institute provided the teacher leaders and coaches with experiences that enhanced their duties as effective leaders at their local buildings. The Teacher Leadership Institute topics included Peer Coaching, Classroom Management, and Inquiry. Teachers reported that teacher leaders and coaches supported them in the following activities:

  • Teaching demonstration lessons
  • Assisting teachers with lessons
  • Sharing their own lessons
  • Supporting practice of hands-on, inquiry-based teaching strategies and techniques
  • Observing teachers and providing feedback on their practices
  • Exploring whole group and small group instructional practices
  • Disseminating and understanding district policies
